Tom Morello Surprises Occupy London

November 9th turned out to be more eventful day than planned at the Occupy London protests, with a surprise visit from Tom Morello.

The US guitarist from international acclaim through both Rage Against the Machine and The Night Watchmen treated protesters to an impromptu and intimate gig by the kitchen tent.

Morello spoke of how he had visited various movements occupy movements across America before coming to London to speak and perform.

As well as performing three songs, he spoke of the problems faced by the world today, centring on the greed of bankers, as well as the overwhelming generosity of some of the world’s poorest people.

In particular he highlighted how guitar manufacturers had moved operations abroad to Korea when trade unions demanded better rights for workers. When Korean workers faced appalling conditions and came to him for help, following the devastation of the Haiti earthquake, they insisted that all funds raised instead be redirected to earthquake victims.
